R&R: Then, for Mao with this kind of view, what does the band name "Sadie" mean to you now?
Mao: Even as we have been able to climb up from this lowest of states, there is no regret towards this name. Because we have been going through this really tough time of deep sadness, we are now where we are today. Without running away from the fights of that time, I don't think we chose the wrong way and in that sense, I want to hold the name of this band dear at all times.

Mizuki: We’ve only played in Japan so far, but we want to do lives overseas too, so please keep waiting. I’m sure we will definitely come, so please look forward and wait for us!
Kei: (in English) I need you!
Tsurugi: We have never done lives overseas, so I want to try playing there. But if you have never seen our lives and if you really want to see them, please come to Japan!
Aki: I want to do a world tour someday. And it would be nice if you could get our CD's in any places.
Mao: I’m expressing music and we are the same humans no matter where we live. You can watch our videos and listen to the music of Sadie with the help of the internet, and if you are impressed with it, if there is a place somewhere in the world where we can connect with the people who need us, I want to make sure whether it’s real one by one, so please wait for us with patience.

Mizuki: Even now, that I am doing what I am doing, being in the band fizzing around, I really prefer being on my own, still. When we didn't have a home, Mao-kun, while worrying all along, he would still somewhere get the idea that "it's gonna be OK", while it seemed impossible for me. Once I start to worry, I'd really worry all along.

Mizuki was scared of Mao.
R&R: At important occasions like that it is really bad to show your shy side too much, isn't it?
Mizuki: But it was really scary! At that time, Mao-san had quite a few piercings here and there and after all, I was still a shy person. So when we met again at that time, he would ask me, whether I had a yes or no answer and I was more like "About that, it's just...", leaving it a little uncertain. Also, since there were also the other band members, Aki-san was the next one who I got to know in a meeting. And at that time, I would tell them I brought my own songs and asked them to listen to them. Thinking about it now, it was really a strange kind of meeting, wasn't it? (laughs)

Mao and Mizuki's First Meetup (semi-creepy)
R&R: You forgave [your previous band's vocalist] for going to Nagoya, since you were simply a person that would put the feelings of others before yours and could not put yourself first.
Mizuki: Either way, until then, we had been living together and of course the rent would be too high to pay on my own, which is why I moved in back with my parents temporarily. Our other guitarist would also join a different band, so in the end I would write on the homepage that I was looking for band members. And after I did that I got a really dubious e-mail.
R&R: What did it say?
Mizuki: First of all, there was no name written on it. This first one said: "Looking for a guitarist. Please contact us." I answered to that and the reply was "Please call this number!"
R&R: That's scary! (laughs) Usually you would just completely ignore this kind of mails, wouldn't you?
Mizuki: I thought about this, too. Still, no matter what, I wanted to be in a band. Until then, I had met a number of people, but there was no one I wanted to be in a band with really. And while it was way too suspicious without a name written, that mail also made me curious. Eventually I called... And then there was this person who answered the phone.
R&R: And that person on the other end turned out to be, maybe...?
Mizuki: It was Mao-san. As usual, talking too fast to understand (laughs) he said "My name is Mao (Note: at that time his name was written in roman letters) and I used to be the singer of a band called SELFRUSH, but right now we are looking for a guitarist. If it's OK, let's just meet once and talk this over, ok?" With that we met for a first time in Osaka. It seemed they were in kind of a hurry and really anyone would have been good. Lately I am saying this, too. "Because we are here right now I can say this, but really anyone would have been OK, right?" (laughs)

It's not "Aka Chouchou."
Apparently the correct romanization of 赤蝶々 is “Sekirara,” not “Aka Chouchou.” Not that we can really get a confirmation of it unless someone from Sadie says so.
But the term “sekirara” does exist. I’m in a conflict. Not sure what to call it anymore. Japanese fans go with “Sekirara.” Translators? go with “Aka Chouchou.” I guess...
